  10.  I am pleased to announce that Atari is making all of the released TOS
  11.  development information available to the general public.  We are making
  12.  the kit available to fulfil the needs of programmers that already have
  13.  purchased a third-party development package, Atari owners that are
  14.  curious about the 'nuts and bolts' of The Operating System, and anyone
  15.  else that wants to have a detailed understanding of TOS software
  16.  development.  If you wish, you may purchase the entire kit for $150.00
  17.  (U.S.) and also get one year of technical support from Atari via the
  18.  private Atari Developer Roundtable on GEnie, 6 issues of the bi-monthly
  19.  Developer Newsletter, ATARI.RSC, and one year of on-going developer kit
  20.  upgrades.  If you wish to renew after one year, there is a fee of only
  21.  $40.00.

  23.  If you wish information on only certain aspects of Atari TOS computers,
  24.  we also sell sections of the kit separately.  The items that are
  25.  available range from every issue of the developer newsletter since 1985,
  26.  to the release notes for the exciting new STBOOK.  Every detail a
  27.  software or hardware developer could want is outlined, including MegaSTE
  28.  /TT VME Bus specifications, STE DMA sound, FSM GDOS programming
  29.  information, and more.  Please see the order form for details.

  31.  You must purchase the $150.00 full kit to be eligible for on-going
  32.  support.  I'm sorry, but at this time, you may not purchase a part of
  33.  the kit, and later "upgrade" to the support level.

  35.  Developers that are currently not registered with Atari, and have a
  36.  commercial product on the market, or have a product in development, or
  37.  have any other special needs requiring direct unlimited telephone
  38.  support should sign up under the Atari Commercial Developer Program.
  39.  There is an additional fee for this program, but there is no renewal fee
  40.  required as long as you continue product development and support.
  41.  (Educators, universities, and businesses may fall into this category.)

  181.  I am far from the head of TOS Development.  Leonard Tramiel is my boss
  182.  and he is the person that could qualify for the title of "Head of TOS
  183.  Development."

  185.  And just so you are aware, there are about 6-7 people working on TOS
  186.  directly and about 10-15 more working on various other things relating
  187.  to TOS.  For example, 3-4 people (mostly three) worked directly on
  188.  FSMGDOS for quite some time.  4 people (myself included) worked on the
  189.  Extensible Control Panel, etc.

  191.  The number of people doing software has increased over the years.  We
  192.  rarely have people leave from this department of the company and we work
  193.  on LOTS of stuff relating to maintaining/improving TOS.

  195.  BTW.. In case you were wondering, Leonard's offical title is Vice
  196.  President of Software.  His counterpart is Richard Miller who is Vice
  197.  President of Hardware (I think his title is something like that) and
  198.  both report directly to Sam Tramiel, CEO and President of Atari Corp.

  200.  If you have any other questions, please ask away.  Just wanted to clear
  201.  up the misconception about our software development here at Atari.
  202.  There are actually quite a few people in the department (We are a good
  203.  sized department, nothing close to what you would find at IBM or Apple,
  204.  but not 2-3 people either ;-) and from what I hear, we could be
  205.  expanding in the future (LOTS and LOTS of stuff to do !!)
